Across 14 days of exploration we walked 153,000 steps (75 miles).
We took way too many trips to 7-11, and never enough trips to boba tea.
We shuffled through crowds, wandered in the woods, baked in the sun, and dodged the rain, the mopeds, and squat toilets.
We searched for garbage cans, ate ice cream burritos, hustled to waterfalls, and crammed on trains.
We survived earthquakes, bug bites and stinky tofu.
We cried with friends, and laughed at ourselves.
We strengthened friendships and formed new ones.
We leave more confident in ourselves, our language skills, and our ability to try new things.
Thank you to the other chaperones and teachers for supporting each other when we each had our turn with the stomach bug.
Thank you to each of you in my small group for always keeping a positive attitude despite long days and lack of sleep.
Special thanks to my faithful fānyì.
Thank you for good times, great memories, and stories we can tell for the rest of our lives 🙂
May your room key never fall in the sewer.
Goodbye Taiwan, for now.
