First morning in the city

We’re not heading out until 10am this morning, so we’ve got lots of time to look around for breakfast. Plus I woke up at 6am and couldn’t fall back to sleep. It’s gonna take a few days to adjust my internal clock.

Out in the street Robert showed me a breakfast spot that had just what I was looking for. I got some eggs and bacon wrapped in a thin tortilla, and fried dough sticks with a cup of some type a sweet peanut-flavored brown rice milk to dip them in. The vendor didn’t speak any English, and the menus were written in a way that my app couldn’t translate. So I just took a stab at saying “dan bing pei gen you tiao” and it worked! I think the brown drink might have been my favorite.

I finished my food and it looks like the kids are starting to come down. Many are heading out to explore. I brought a group back to my breakfast spot and Yang Laoshi helped us (mainly myself and Ms Wadkins) understand some of the menu options.

It’s rainy so we’re planning to head to the Palace Museum and Taipei 101 today, since they are mostly indoors. More to come…
