Our kids packed up and checked out of the hotel this morning. We’re heading to the high school for the 2025 International High School Student Summit.

The theme of this year’s summit is ecological sustainability. In attendance are students from 11 countries (Japan, Australia, India, Germany, France, Taiwan, China, U.S. and others!) The keynote speech was a landscape designer, John Block, who taught about the ecological impact of gardens and how to best build them. It appears that he has some very wealthy clients that he designs for. During Q&A our students grilled him about incorporating native plants, accessibility, and affordability.

In between presentations they had to do some homework, and ask questions of other students around them.

Cullen, James, and Charlie gave a presentation on the benefits of urban cooling as well.

One presenter made the mistake of asking the students to anonymously submit words for a live word cloud:

Then Hadley, EnEn, and Bennea gave their presentation.

Afterwards, the students paired up and off they went with their homestay partners for the next 3 nights! I hope they have a great time. I know I will 😉

Because I know you’re dying to see a game show update:

Old men attempt to high jump, then land on as much cash taped to the mat as possible. Cover the most cash with your body and you win!
